Installation

In order to install the wrapper control, you will need to register it with Windows.

Installation steps

  1. Copy the AntEdgeWebBrowser.ocx control locally to your filesystem.
  2. Start a command prompt (or Windows Powershell) as administrator
  3. Navigate to the folder that contains the .ocx
  4. Run the command:
  5. regsvr32 -i AntEdgeWebBrowser.ocx

Installation of the demo

  1. Unzip the demo to a normal user folder (not protected by User Access Control).
  2. Navigate to the program's folder and right click on the .dll and the .ocx, select "Unblock" and Apply. Do this for both files.
  3. Start a command prompt (or Windows Powershell) as administrator
  4. Navigate to the folder that contains the .ocx
  5. Run the command:
  6. regsvr32 -i AntEdgeWebBrowser.ocx

As the control depends on the MS Edge WebView2 control, you also have to install WebView2 in order to get this to work.

WebView2 can be installed via a few different means:
There's the nuget package: https://www.nuget.org/packages/Microsoft.Web.WebView2
There's also the more standard windows installer for installing the WebView2 runtime: https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/webview2/

You can install the WebView2 runtime on the following versions of Windows.
  1. Windows 10
  2. Windows 8.1
  3. Windows 7
  4. Windows Server 2019
  5. Windows Server 2016
  6. Windows Server 2012
  7. Windows Server 2012 R2
  8. Windows Server 2008 R2

After installing the runtime. There is one additional requirement for being able to use the WebView2 control in your applications. You'll need to locate the file WebView2Loader.dll from the nupkg file and put it in your application's binary path. There's a 32 bit and 64 bit variant of this file. Note that the 32 bit and 64 bit versions have the same filenames.
Our demo has the WebView2Loader.dll from WebView2 runtime 1.0.864 already in the Programs folder.

For being able to use the control in the Studio you will also need to copy the WebView2Loader.dll into the Studio bin folder, so that you do not get an error when you use the control in the designer.
